B & I was invited to join the Skanska team for the construction improvements of The Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health. This project includes renovating and expanding the hospital’s pediatric units and construction of a new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
B & I is the mechanical contractor responsible for the HVAC and Plumbing scopes. The HVAC scope includes selective demolition, installation of Roof Top Units, VAV boxes, Ductwork and air distribution system, chilled and hot water aboveground systems with associated insulation. The Plumbing scope includes selective demolition of existing piping and equipment, sanitary, domestic water, stormwater and medical gas piping, medical gas equipment, temporary water, fixtures, equipment, and specialties while performing critical shutdowns in full coordination with Skanska and Hospital Facilities to minimize any disruption to their daily operations.
In addition B & I was the leading contractor for the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process for installation of all MEP systems utilizing lean methods and through a collaborative process with all of our trade partners to successfully complete the system and create trust and greater partnership with all team members.
